About this QR code generator
The BapTools QR code generator lets you create high-resolution QR codes for free, right in your browser and without uploading anything to a server. You can generate QR codes for website URLs, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses, Wi-Fi logins and much more.
Why use QR codes?
- Instant sharing: a camera scan opens the URL or information in seconds.
- Flexible: print it on business cards, posters, product packaging or checkout screens.
- Universal: every modern smartphone camera can read a QR code.
- Compact: stores a lot of information inside a very small square.
Real-world examples
Example 1 — restaurant menu on the table
Enter https://menu.example.com and pick 400px. You get a sharp code that still scans from one or two metres away.
Example 2 — business card for a sales rep
Enter Jane Doe|Sales|0901234567. When someone scans it, their phone offers the name, title and a tap-to-call number, with no typing.
Example 3 — hotel guest Wi-Fi
Enter WIFI:T:WPA;S:HotelGuest;P:guestpass123;;. Guests scan and join directly instead of typing a password with random capitals.
Example 4 — payment without an app
Paste https://example.com/pay into the code. Scanning with the stock camera opens the checkout in the browser, so nobody has to install a banking app.
When to use it, and when not to
Worth using
- Printing on business cards, leaflets or product packaging to replace a long URL.
- Putting it on reception desks, dining tables and notice boards for self-service.
- Sending it in email or chat alongside content people should open quickly.
- Producing a simple static code with an ordinary office printer, no design software needed.
Not worth it
- When readers are on a laptop. Scanning from a desktop is awkward, so a plain link is faster.
- When the content is meant to be protected. A static QR just holds a URL, so anyone with a camera can open it; it is not a login.
- For long multi-page documents, where people have to scan and then hunt for the section. A written link is quicker.
- Below about 2 cm when printed. The code loses its quiet zone and most scanners fail.
How to create a QR code
- Paste the URL or text you want to encode into the input box.
- Choose the output image size, from 100px up to 1000px.
- Press Create QR Code.
- The QR code renders immediately so you can scan and verify it.
- Press Download PNG to save the image to your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. It is completely free and no account is needed.
What kind of data can I encode?
Website URLs, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses, Wi-Fi credentials and most other text-based content.
Does the QR code size matter?
Larger codes are easier to scan from a distance and print more cleanly. For business cards, use at least 300px.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. A static QR code never expires and always points at the content you encoded.
