URL validator

Check that a web address is well formed before you share it.

About the URL validator

The BapTools URL validator analyses the structure of a web address and spots the usual mistakes: a missing protocol, a malformed domain or illegal characters.

When should you validate a URL?

  • Before sending an email: a broken link in a branded email looks careless.
  • When a partner sends links: avoid mixing up http and https, or .com and .co.
  • Before publishing content: make sure readers are not sent to a dead page.

What makes up a valid URL?

A complete URL contains a scheme (https://), a host, a path and optionally a query string, for example https://memories.io.vn/tools/qr-generator/

Real-world examples

Example 1 — missing scheme

You type memories.io.vn/tools with no https://. Many browsers cope, but pasted into an email or document it often degrades to plain text and stops being clickable.

Example 2 — .com versus .vn

https://tencongty.vn looks valid, but if the real domain is .com.vn the link is dead. The tool cannot guess that, it just shows you the exact structure you have.

Example 3 — a non-standard port

https://example.com:8443/admin is valid, and the 8443 port is shown separately so you can check you did not mean the default 443.

Example 4 — URLs with query strings

https://example.com/tim-kiem?q=quan%20ao&page=2 is split out into its query string, which helps when you need to know which search it points at.

When to use it, and when not to

Worth using

  • Before sending an email that contains links, so branded mail has no dead links.
  • When a partner sends a link and you want to confirm the format is sane.
  • Checking a path before embedding it in a document, a QR code or a post.
  • Breaking a long URL into parts so you can see where it actually leads.

Not worth it

  • Checking whether a site is still online. This tool only parses syntax and makes no request.
  • Detecting malicious download paths, which needs a dedicated security scanner.
  • Auditing SEO signals such as redirects, canonical tags or HTTP status codes.

How to validate a URL

  1. Paste the URL into the input field.
  2. Press the Validate button.
  3. Read the result and fix any incorrect parts.

Frequently asked questions

Does this check whether the link is still alive?

No. It validates structure only and makes no request to the target server, so it cannot detect a website that has shut down.

Is https required?

Yes, prefer https. Modern browsers flag plain http pages as not secure.

Is it case sensitive?

Hosts are case insensitive, paths are not. /Tools and /tools are different paths.
