Password generator
Create strong random passwords and tune the length and character types.
About the password generator
The BapTools password generator creates random passwords using the browser Math.random() algorithm. Passwords never reach a server and are never stored anywhere.
What makes a password strong?
- At least 12 characters: length matters more than adding symbols.
- Mix character types: upper case, lower case, digits and symbols.
- Never reuse: each account should have its own unique password.
- No personal details: avoid names, birth dates and phone numbers.
Why generate instead of inventing one?
Human-chosen passwords tend to follow guessable patterns such as Password123!. A random generator removes that habit entirely.
Real-world examples
Example 1 — email account, 20 characters
Enable all four character types and set length 20. You get something like 7#kP2$vNq9!zR4@Lm8, well past the 12-character minimum.
Example 2 — a POS terminal that rejects symbols
Some hardware will not accept special characters. Turn off symbols, set length 14, and letters plus digits is still strong.
Example 3 — home Wi-Fi password
Routers usually cap Wi-Fi passwords at 8 to 12 characters. Set length 10 and enable only lower case and digits, to avoid l and 1 confusion.
Example 4 — one password per account
Press generate again for every new account. Reusing one password means a single leak exposes all of them at once.
When to use it, and when not to
Worth using
- Creating a password for email, banking or admin accounts.
- Generating passwords for systems, databases or test API keys.
- Making temporary guest credentials for one-off access.
- Rotating Wi-Fi or device passwords with their own character limits.
Not worth it
- Production API keys. The browser random source is not cryptographically secure and is not good enough for signing keys.
- A replacement for a password manager: save the result in one, do not leave it in a note.
- Wallet keys, session tokens or recovery codes, which need a secure random source.
How to generate a password
- Choose a length, 12 characters or more is recommended.
- Enable the character types you want to allow.
- Press Generate password.
- Press Copy and paste it into your password manager.
Frequently asked questions
Is the password saved?
No. It exists only in the page until you reload or navigate away.
How long should a password be?
At least 12 characters for everyday accounts, 16 or more for banking or email accounts.
Is it safe for bank accounts?
The tool relies on the browser pseudo-random generator, which suits websites and normal apps but does not replace a built-in credential manager with two-factor authentication.
