Unit converter

Convert length, weight and temperature units with one simple tool.

About the unit converter

The BapTools unit converter covers the three most common unit groups: length, weight and temperature. Every calculation runs in your browser and returns a result instantly.

Supported units

  • Length: millimetre, centimetre, metre, kilometre, inch, foot, yard, mile.
  • Weight: milligram, gram, kilogram, tonne, ounce, pound.
  • Temperature: Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin.

Temperature conversion formula

To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit multiply by 9/5 and add 32. To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9. The tool applies this for you.

Real-world examples

Example 1 — a 180 cm table in inches

1 foot = 30.48 cm, so 180 cm = 5.905 feet, about 70.9 inches. Useful when reading marketplace listings that quote inches.

Example 2 — a recipe in ounces

The recipe wants 450 g of flour and you only have an ounce scale. 450 g = 15.87 oz, so weigh about 15.9 and adjust to taste.

Example 3 — bath temperature

38 °C is 100.4 °F. A room at 22 °C is roughly 71.6 °F, which helps when the thermostat only speaks Fahrenheit.

Example 4 — running distances

1 mile = 1.609 km. A 5-mile run is about 8.05 km, and a 100-mile drive is roughly 161 km.

When to use it, and when not to

Worth using

  • Reading technical documents or product labels in another unit system.
  • Cooking from a foreign recipe without a properly scaled scale.
  • Working with data entered by hand from an international source.
  • Converting temperatures while travelling or working in Fahrenheit countries.

Not worth it

  • Currency conversion: rates move daily and are not a fixed constant.
  • Volume and area conversions, which this tool does not cover.
  • Medication doses. Being wrong here is dangerous, so follow your doctor or the package leaflet.
